The Government has adopted a draft decision of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee in the trade area, which creates conditions for Ukraine to acquire the EU internal market regime on roaming. The relevant decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on April 7, 2023.
This document is intended to supplement the lists and schedules for the adaptation of EU legislation in the telecommunications services sector, in particular, regarding roaming in public mobile networks, taking into account current changes in EU legislation.
“Approval of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee’s decision will create conditions for Ukraine to acquire the internal market regime on roaming. This year, this area will be a ‘pilot’ for Ukraine’s full legal integration into the intra-European regulatory framework.
In general, while preparations for Ukraine’s accession to the EU are underway, we must integrate in all possible areas – from customs and energy to food safety,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
Thus, the Government is implementing the updated Priority Action Plan to strengthen the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement agreed between the Ministry of Economy and the European Commission. The main focus of the Plan is Ukraine’s integration into the EU’s internal market.
“The plan includes 29 measures to complete existing projects, such as the industrial “visa free regime” agreement (ACAA), and to start working on integration into the internal market in all relevant areas, including updating the necessary annexes to the agreement, monitoring compliance with legislation and approving market opening decisions. I emphasise once again that our goal is to integrate into the EU internal market without waiting for EU accession,” summed up Yuliia Svyrydenko.
