Government has simplified the paperwork process for foreigners serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Government has adopted a decision simplifying the procedures for issuing temporary residence permits to foreigners who are fighting with or plan to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Specifically, a temporary residence permit in Ukraine will now be issued for the entire duration of the contract and for an additional six months after its expiration.
The issue of submitting documents for foreigners planning to sign a service contract has also been resolved. It is now possible to submit documents with expired validity.
“The Government has also addressed situations where a foreigner cannot renew their passport because doing so would require contacting the aggressor state or a country that does not recognize Ukraine’s territorial integrity. In such cases, documents may be submitted even with an expired passport,” the Head of Government commented.
In addition, the decision provides for simplifying the confirmation of residence for some foreigners who are performing military service.
According to the Prime Minister, the adopted changes are intended to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy and create clearer and more normal conditions for staying in Ukraine for people who are defending our country.
