Today, May 8, Ukraine joins the rest of the world in honoring the memory of the victims of World War II.

“Ukraine was at the epicentre of the tragedy twice, losing nearly 8 million people, including 5 million civilians. The war affected almost every Ukrainian family,” noted Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

"Yet this tragedy did not become a lasting warning for russia—a state that launched and continues to wage an aggressive war against Ukraine and all of Europe, justifying it with the cult of the “Great Victory.”

“Ukraine fights not for the past but for its future, for a just and lasting peace. We remember the price,” the Head of Government emphasized.
