The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the allocation of UAH 3 billion towards establishing modern educational spaces under the New Ukrainian School reform. The funds will be directed towards equipping laboratories, STEM classrooms, and teaching rooms. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

In particular:

  • UAH 1.3 billion has been allocated for gymnasiums;
  • UAH 1.2 billion for pilot lyceums in the senior specialised school phase;
  • UAH 500 million for establishing centres for the Defence of Ukraine subject.

For pilot lyceums operating remotely – particularly in frontline regions – provision has been made for the purchase of equipment and digital resources.

“Starting from early 2026, we are shifting the approach from piecemeal school upgrades to the comprehensive creation of educational spaces. Education must be high-quality and systematic, even during wartime,” noted Yulia Svyrydenko.

Communities will be able to access the state subvention on a co-financing basis with local budgets. The funds may be used to update teaching, laboratory, computer, and multimedia equipment, as well as furniture for educational spaces.

Mandatory conditions remain transparent procurement in line with Ukraine Facility requirements and transparent reporting.

High-quality education in communities involves shared responsibility between the state and local authorities. To receive the subvention, co-financing from local budgets is required, along with community-funded repairs to premises. Procurement of classroom equipment must be conducted openly and transparently.

Detailed conditions for obtaining the subvention are available on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science.
