Today, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved changes to 2025 State Budget, providing an additional UAH 324.7 billion sum for defense. This was announced by Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Yulia Svyrydenko.

Of this amount, over UAH 310 billion will be directed to the General Fund, with UAH 301 billion allocated to the Ministry of Defense, including:

- UAH 202 bn for military personnel salaries;

- UAH 100 bn for the procurement of weapons, primarily unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of various types, including fiber-optic FPV drones, interceptor drones, and deep-strike drones;

- UAH 8 bn for other military expenses, such as transportation, fuel, and operational costs.

“This decision is driven by the dynamics of the frontline and constantly changing combat conditions. russia does not stop, altering its tactics on the front and intensifying attacks on our energy infrastructure in the rear. We must be flexible and quickly adapt our spending to provide the Armed Forces with all necessary resources to counter the enemy,” said Yulia Svyrydenko.

The primary source of funding is EUR 6 billion (UAH 294.3 billion) from the European Union under the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) mechanism. An additional nearly UAH 30 bn is secured through extra budget revenues, savings on debt repayments, and cuts to non-priority expenditures.

The Prime Minister emphasized that drone procurement would be partially funded by frozen russian assets, for which Ukraine is grateful to its EU and G7 partners.

The next step is the prompt approval of these budget changes in the Verkhovna Rada. The Government counts on the support of parliamentarians to ensure the Defense Forces receive the necessary resources as quickly as possible.
