On 26 May, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution “On approval of the Technical Regulations for Civil Protection Equipment”.
One of the components of eliminating the risks of emergencies related to fires, explosions, leaks of hazardous substances and natural hazards is ensuring the functionality and safety of civil protection equipment used to protect the population and facilities during rescue and other emergency operations and fire-fighting.
The problem is that there is currently no single piece of legislation that sets out clear requirements and procedures for assessing the conformity of civil protection equipment. As a result, there is a high level of deaths and injuries of civil protection personnel when using civil protection equipment
The adoption of the resolution will help minimise the risks associated with the use of civil protection equipment.
