Government improves transparency of housing provision for veterans and their families
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has amended Resolution No. 700 of August 14, 2019, “On the Unified State Register of War Veterans.” The amendments improve the procedure for registering veterans and members of their families who receive housing or housing assistance from the state.
What is changing
- All information about veterans, their family members, and members of the families of deceased soldiers who have received housing funded by the state or local budgets shall be accumulated in the Unified State Register of War Veterans (USRWV).
- Data on public housing programs shall be complete, up-to-date, and open to control within the framework of applicable law.
In particular, regional and Kyiv city state administrations (military administrations), chief administrators, and responsible executors of state housing programs are required to submit relevant information on persons receiving housing assistance to the Ministry for Veterans Affairs twice a month, by the 10th and 25th date of each month.
It is also recommended that local authorities, as well as administrators and administrators of local housing programs, submit information to the Ministry on a monthly basis.
This will ensure the completeness and accuracy of data in the USR, help prevent duplicate or illegal receipt of housing assistance, and reduce duplication of state support programs.
The new approach is aimed to increase the efficiency of using budget funds and enhance the transparency of housing provision for veterans and their families.
