Oleksii Sobolev: Ukraine trusts in the quality of its products, as evidenced by stable exports to the European Union market

On February 12, Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, Oleksii Sobolev held an online meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova and the National Food Safety Agency of Moldova (ANSA).

The parties discussed cooperation in the agricultural sector between the countries. The meeting was a logical continuation of previous discussions that had begun in Berlin during Green Week and on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. In particular, they addressed the situation with Ukrainian poultry exports to Moldova.

"Moldova is an important market for Ukrainian chicken. In 2025, exports amounted to 18,400 tonnes worth USD 32.7 million. Therefore, the decision to temporarily suspend imports needs to be resolved as soon as possible," said Oleksii Sobolev.

The parties agreed to settle the issue of tightening inspection controls on Ukrainian poultry meat exporters.

"Ukraine trusts in the quality of its products, and this is confirmed by stable exports to the European Union market. We want to be as open as possible and give extra guarantees to Moldova, like doing tests in accredited labs if they request it. Our goal is to quickly resolve all technical issues and lift restrictions on chicken exports, as there are no objective reasons for a prolonged halt in supplies. We expect trade to return to its usual dynamics in the near future," concluded Oleksii Sobolev.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint efforts to remove trade barriers.
