Government supports development of Unity Centres network for Ukrainians abroad
On 14 July, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution “On the Implementation of an Experimental Project to Develop a Network of Unity Centres for Ukrainians Abroad,” drafted by the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov.
According to him, this decision establishes, at the state level, the creation and development of a network of Unity Centres for Ukrainians abroad, defines a clear mechanism for implementing the project, enables the state enterprise “National Unity Agency” to launch and expand the network of Centres, and creates favourable conditions for their swift establishment.
“According to various estimates, between 20 and 25 million Ukrainians live abroad. The Unity Centres will serve as true pillars of support for our people, helping them adapt, learn, work, facilitate their return, and, most importantly, maintain close ties with Ukraine,” emphasised Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the European Commission has supported the establishment of Unity Centres in EU member states in cooperation with Ukrainian authorities. It has been determined that these centres may be co-financed by the Commission under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
