Today, the number one objective for the Government is to complete preparations for the heating season. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal emphasized during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on October 4. The Head of Government has added that despite all the challenges, together with the local authorities and all other services, the Government does everything in its power to provide heat, light, and water to the homes of Ukrainians.
"Currently, we assess the state of preparedness of residential buildings and heating networks at almost 90%, and in the near future we will approach the indicator of 100% in those regions not currently affected by active hostilities," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister reported that almost 14 billion cubic meters of gas were currently pumped in underground gas storages, while Ukraine was counting on additional volumes of imported gas from international partners. Corresponding negotiations are underway with the United States, Great Britain, and Norway.
Besides, according to the Head of Government, Ukraine has accumulated about 2 million tons of coal, and by the start of the heating season, will continue accumulating the resource in all available storage facilities.
Denys Shmyhal also noted that wood would be an additional resource in the coming heating season: "The Government has already allocated UAH 562 million in subventions for the purchase of wood to regional military administrations. This primarily concerns the regions adjacent to the combat zone. It is vital to promptly distribute resources among those communities where they will really be necessary."
