Government prepares for new academic year: priority on safety and quality of education

Over 3 million Ukrainian children will soon begin the new academic year, either in classrooms or online. Preparations for the start of the school year are underway at all levels. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following a meeting with Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi.

The Head of Government emphasised the importance of ensuring high-quality educational services. “The lack of shelters in educational institutions reduces the quality of education and complicates the organisation of in-person classes. Therefore, we are continuing to build new underground school shelters and upgrading existing ones. We are also providing transport for pupils with new school buses,” Yulia Svyrydenko stressed.

At the same time, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to pay special attention to schools in frontline regions.

“It is crucial that all children have equal access to quality education and that curricula meet the demands of the modern labour market. That’s why we are focusing on updating the content and teaching methods to address current challenges and enhancing teachers’ qualifications,” Yulia Svyrydenko noted.

The Government is working to ensure that every pupil who achieved the highest score in the national multi-subject test can realise their potential in Ukraine, the Prime Minister emphasised. This year, over 2,400 pupils achieved the highest result in the multi-subject test.
