  • Ukrainian delegation led by Pavlo Petrenko commenced visit to Brussels

    Ukrainian delegation headed by Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko began work in the framework of a two-day working visit to Brussels. The delegation includes Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Oleksii Filatov, Head of the High Qualifications Commission of Judges of Ukraine Serhii Koziakov, Secretary of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Vsevolod Kniazev, and also the heads of departments of the Ministry of Justice Yulia Zaichenko and Ilya Chernohorenko.

    "During the visit, our delegation is scheduled to have meetings with representatives of the European Commission, which will be dedicated to considering the progress achieved by Ukraine in a judicial reform, as well as in the reform of the justice sector", the Minister of Justice commented on the visit in his communication with Ukrainian outlets on Monday, April 8.

    Definitely, Pavlo Petrenko said, it concerns the completion of the formation of a new Supreme Court and the process of establishment of an Anticorruption Court, which passes its final stage. Among the key topics is the reform of the execution of judgment system, which is within the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice, as it is a key component of reforming the judiciary.

    "Our delegation includes representatives of the presidential and judicial branches of power. Therefore, we have a really frank conversation with our European partners on the results that we are demonstrating for today and our plans aimed at completing the judicial reform within the timeframe set by the current law", underlined the Minister of Justice.

    On April 8, the Ukrainian delegation met with the Head of the Support Group for Ukraine at the European Commission, Peter Wagner.

    "We discussed a number of issues in terms of the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, the cooperation of our country with the countries of the EU, as well as the progress of reforms in Ukraine and aligning of Ukrainian laws with the European", commented on the results of the meeting Pavlo Petrenko.

    According to the Minister of Justice, Ukrainian officials also informed the European side of the progress of key reforms in Ukraine that need the EU support. In particular, they discussed the results of the execution of court ruling in the context of the development of the Institution of private judicial officers in Ukraine.
