Such prospects were discussed in the course of a meeting between Minister for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Oksana Koliada and newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Croatia Vasyl Kyrylych. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for European Integration of the Ministry for Veterans’ Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Iliashenko Oleksii and Advisor to the Minister Olexandr Levchenko (Ambassador to Croatia in 2010-2017).
During the meeting, the sides tackled the areas of cooperation, in particular, an emphasis was placed on the factors and instruments of assistance in the socialization of Ukrainian veterans, taking into account not only the Croatian experience, but also building their cooperation with foreign colleagues. The issues related to reintegration of veterans, insurance, starting their own business were discussed in depth.
"We really need to promote development of horizontal ties between the Ukrainian and Croatian sides. For our part, we are ready not only to support veterans and to ensure their social guarantees, but also to convey information about their abilities to foreign investors, potential partners," Oksana Koliada stressed.
In turn, the Ambassador to Croatia Vasyl Kyrylych emphasized that it was important for him to take part in this meeting and secure the backing of the Ministry before his departure to Croatia.
"I know that the Croatian side has been actively supporting Ukraine for many years, including Ukrainian veterans. But I am convinced that we have a chance to further deepen these relationships and stimulate the emergence of new projects. In addition, I hope that we will be able to lobby the interests of Ukrainian veterans-entrepreneurs among potential business partners in Croatia", Ambassador Vasyl Kyrylych underscored.
