Ukraine has sufficient potential and capacity to rapidly turn into a regional hub for automotive production, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during a meeting with the leadership of the French automotive giant Renault.
The company is interested in expanding its production capacities and considers Ukraine as one of the platforms for automobile production.
"We are interested in development of production linkages with France, and the sphere of automotive production can become another direction of economic cooperation. We are currently discussing the possibility of manufacturing Renault cars in Ukraine. For us, it means additional jobs, and expanding export opportunities", said Volodymyr Groysman.
The PM stressed that Ukraine has not only a favorable geographical location, but also a large capacity of domestic demand for high-quality and low-cost cars. Since 2000, more than 20 internationally recognized companies have entered Ukraine and opened more than 30 factories for the production of automotive spare parts. At that, spare parts of Ukrainian production have the lowest initial cost in Europe.
In this context, the Head of Government reminded that recently he had initiated to elaborate with the deputy corps a number of decisions that would enable improving the process of attracting investors to automotive industry and introducing relevant technologies here. "We can draft a law by September to bring here manufacturers to produce cars. There will be jobs, there will be cars. We are working together to create conditions for the competitive automotive production", added the Head of Government.
