Ukraine has not been buying gas from Russia for 1,363 days by using mainly European sources of supply and gradually increasing its own production. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced this today, August 21. During the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Prime Minister presented the current state of affairs in economy, social, education, medicine, defense sectors and outlined the main priorities that need to be continued.
"Energy independence is of utmost importance. The opportunities that our Government has created for gas production must be realized to the fullest possible extent. We have established Energy Efficiency Fund. Currently, some of the Fund’s products are being piloted. This is a comprehensive mechanism. Billions of hryvnias will be accumulated there. This must be an effective tool for energy efficiency",Volodymyr Groysman stressed.
The Prime Minister also noted that the issue of energy independence also encompasses the need to ensure the stable operation of the gas transmission system. In this context Volodymyr Groysman reminded that during his Government's work amid the absence of gas supplies to Ukraine our state ensured stable transit of fuel to European consumers.
