Oleksii Kuleba, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, held a meeting with Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defense and Space, on the sidelines of the EU Preparedness Conference.

The focus of the discussion was infrastructure as a component of security. For Ukraine, roads, railways, ports, energy, and the protection of critical infrastructure have long been matters not only of the economy but also of defense capability.

The parties talked about using the SAFE Military Mobility instrument to fund critical transport corridors, protect logistics routes, support the implementation of regional energy resilience plans, and explore additional financial tools to protect critical infrastructure, particularly railways.

Ukraine has practical experience of operating under constant attack, and this experience is a real contribution to the European model of crisis preparedness and resilience.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked Commissioner Andrius Kubilius for his strong support of Ukraine and his understanding that investments in Ukrainian infrastructure are investments in the security of all of Europe.
