Ukraine invites OECD to contribute to Industrial Strategy development: Yuliia Svyrydenko at meeting with Mathias Cormann
Ukraine has invited the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to provide expert input into the development of its Industrial Strategy. This was stated by Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yuliia Svyrydenko, during a meeting in Kyiv on 6 May between Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, government representatives, and OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann.
“Supporting domestic producers, with a focus on high-value-added goods and industrial development, is a key priority for the Ukrainian Government. We aim to achieve the same level of processing in our economy’s structure as other OECD countries – 20–25%. I am confident that your expertise in industrial policy will support this goal,” Yuliia Svyrydenko noted.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy thanked the OECD for preparing the Economic Survey of Ukraine and highlighted the alignment between the OECD experts’ views and the Ukrainian Government’s priorities for economic development.
The OECD report identified several key areas for Ukraine to focus on:
- Ensuring macroeconomic stability;
- Supporting fiscal sustainability;
- Enhancing human capital capacity;
- Attracting investment and expanding exports.
“These fully align with our Government’s priorities,” Yuliia Svyrydenko emphasised.
She also noted that reclassifying Ukraine’s risk group under the OECD Country Risk Classification from Group 7 to Group 6 could significantly boost investment attraction.
“Such a step would make risk insurance much more accessible,” stressed the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.
