Ukraine opens the first EU accession negotiation cluster

All Member States of the European Union have agreed to open the first negotiation cluster on Ukraine’s EU membership from 15 June. The decision reflects a high assessment of Ukraine’s reforms and the country’s readiness for integration into the European Union.

This achievement became possible thanks to the coordinated and consistent efforts of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Government, the Verkhovna Rada and expert teams working every day to advance key European integration reforms.

For the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, the opening of the negotiation cluster is also the result of long-term and systematic work.

The Ministry’s team successfully completed the screening of Ukrainian legislation for compliance with EU law in several key areas: Chapter 14 “Transport Policy”, Chapter 21 “Trans-European Networks”, and Chapter 22 “Regional Policy and Coordination of Structural Instruments”.

“Behind these decisions are months of meticulous preparation, dozens of teams and hundreds of professionals working to ensure that Ukraine not only declares its European course but consistently implements it in practice.

We thank our international partners for their trust and unwavering support. There is still much work ahead, but today’s decision is another step towards Ukraine’s full membership of the European Union,” said Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
