Close cooperation between Türkiye and Ukraine in the agricultural sector will ensure economic growth between the two countries. The first step in this direction has been taken - a Memorandum on scientific, technical, and economic cooperation between the two countries was signed by Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, and İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye.
During the meeting, Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, told about the role of the Service in opening new markets and providing state guarantees for compliance with the requirements of partner countries.
"The last time we opened markets for Ukrainian products was two years ago. And at the same time three positions of agricultural products. We are currently working on 9 more markets, including fresh fish for farming, cattle meat, pet food, and poultry products. In addition, the import of Turkish products to Ukraine is an important area. We considered their proposals that would be of interest to Ukrainian consumers. In particular, this applies to dairy products. I am confident that today's meeting is a step forward in increasing the volume of bilateral trade and commodity exchange between our countries,” said the Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The parties exchanged information on the state of development of national agricultural sectors and reviewed the current situation in agricultural trade between the two countries.
According to Serhii Tkachuk, Ukraine has a successful case study of digitalisation of phytosanitary processes: it is about joining the international ePhyto system, the key point of which is the QR code on issued quarantine certificates, phytosanitary certificates, and phytosanitary certificates for re-export. Thus, the partner country will have an opportunity to verify the authenticity of the document. This tool will facilitate the smooth circulation of agricultural products on the world market, including in the Republic of Türkiye.
