On 13 March, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with a Turkish government delegation, including Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı.

The parties discussed deepening economic cooperation and increasing trade between the two countries.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government stressed that after the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement, prospects for reviving trade and economic relations with Ankara would open up. In addition, Denys Shmyhal expressed his gratitude for the completion of the ratification procedures and the final approval of the agreement by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He stressed that the ratification of the document by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was expected.

The Prime Minister initiated preparations for joint events to inform businesses of both countries about the benefits of the agreement.

The parties also discussed agricultural imports and exports.

"Ukraine is interested in supplying grains, sunflower oil, corn and other products to Türkiye," said Denys Shmyhal, adding that Turkish businesses are considering building feed production plants in Ukraine.

In addition, the Prime Minister stressed that in order to increase the turnover of agricultural products, Ukraine would be interested in cooperating with Türkiye in other agricultural areas, in particular, in irrigation and land reclamation.

One important topic of discussion was Türkiye's participation in Ukraine's reconstruction.

"The first meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish working group on reconstruction took place today. This was part of the agreements between the Presidents of our countries. We are looking forward to launching joint projects in the field of road infrastructure restoration, water transport, projects to protect critical infrastructure, housing restoration, etc.", the Prime Minister stressed.
