Ukraine and Serbia sign memorandum of cooperation on European integration
On 21 May in Belgrade, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka and Serbia’s Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on European integration.
The Memorandum provides for the exchange of experience in the field of European integration and the accession negotiation process, cooperation between state institutions of the two countries, the development of professional training for civil servants, and the sharing of expertise on the implementation of the EU acquis. The document also envisages the exchange of experience in the proper planning, management and use of international technical assistance, including European Union funds.
The parties also agreed to hold joint training sessions and educational programmes, organise exchanges between civil servants, and conduct consultations, conferences, round tables and other joint events in the context of the European integration process.
“For Ukraine, practical exchange of experience with countries that are also negotiating accession to the EU is important. European integration is the daily work of state institutions, legislative adaptation, the development of professional capacity and effective coordination between all public authorities. That is why our cooperation and the experience we have gained are of significant value for both countries,” Taras Kachka noted.
The parties also confirmed their readiness to maintain regular dialogue between the relevant institutions and negotiating teams of both states.
