Ukraine and Denmark sign memorandum to expand cooperation in agriculture
Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitalii Koval, and Denmark’s Minister for Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries, Jacob Jensen, signed a Memorandum to expand cooperation in the agricultural sector. The signing took place during Vitalii Koval’s visit to Denmark.
The document outlines priority areas for collaboration, including Ukraine’s European integration processes.
The ministers also discussed shared challenges and opportunities to deepen the partnership between Ukraine and Denmark, particularly investments in Ukraine’s agricultural sector and support for its post-war recovery.
Key topics of discussion:
- Denmark’s agricultural production efficiency is 15 times higher than Ukraine’s, underscoring the need to develop deep processing in Ukraine.
- Agriculture in Denmark is a high-tech industry rooted in tradition, embracing innovation while maintaining respect for farmers.
- The Danish state fosters a supportive environment for farmers through measures like preferential lending, export assistance, and green transformation initiatives.
- Fisheries and aquaculture are strategic sectors, with Ukraine holding significant potential in these areas, especially in the context of post-war reconstruction.
“Strong agriculture is a matter of food security and energy stability for Ukraine. Denmark understands this well and supports us. I am confident that our cooperation will only grow stronger,” emphasised Vitalii Koval.
