Ukraine and Denmark discuss countering ballistic threats and jet-powered drones

Ukraine's Minister of Defence, Yevhenii Khmara, held a phone call with his Danish counterpart, Minister of Defence Jeppe Bruus.

The two ministers discussed the Ukrainian Defence Forces' most pressing needs, ways to strengthen Ukraine's ability to counter ballistic threats and jet-powered strike drones, progress on the FREYJA anti-ballistic project, and how to deepen defence cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark.

Countering ballistic and jet-powered drone threats

Khmara briefed his Danish counterpart on the most critical needs currently facing Ukraine's Defence Forces, with particular focus on countering ballistic missiles and jet-powered strike drones. The ministers explored concrete ways to strengthen Ukraine's capabilities in this area, in particular through the development of interceptor systems and electronic warfare solutions.

The FREYJA project

The two sides also discussed progress on key joint initiatives, including the FREYJA anti-ballistic project, which aims to strengthen the ability of Ukraine and its partners to counter ballistic threats.

Mutually beneficial defence cooperation

Khmara and Bruus also discussed ways to deepen defence cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark to the benefit of both countries. Ukraine reaffirmed its readiness to share the operational experience and expertise it has gained in countering modern threats — particularly in the field of unmanned systems — and to contribute to the training of partner forces.

Khmara thanked Denmark for its exceptionally strong support for Ukraine and for its leadership in providing defence assistance.
