Ukraine and the Czech Republic deepen economic and defence cooperation – joint statement by Prime Ministers

Ukraine and the Czech Republic will strengthen their partnership and enhance cooperation in economic, defence, and humanitarian spheres. This was outlined in a joint statement by the Prime Ministers of both countries, Denys Shmyhal and Petr Fiala, adopted following their meeting on 20 May.

The document confirms agreements to develop and deepen business cooperation around Ukraine’s reconstruction, as well as in energy, transport, smart city infrastructure, environmental protection, healthcare, cybersecurity, digital technologies, education, science, and other sectors. Additionally, the bilateral talks addressed ways to attract Czech investments to Ukraine and establish joint ventures.

According to the Head of the Ukrainian Government, the meeting demonstrated the unity and solidarity of Ukraine and the Czech Republic in their pursuit of a just peace, security, and prosperity for all of Europe.

“The Czech Republic expressed full support for the principles outlined in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, as well as Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO,” noted Denys Shmyhal.

Furthermore, the governments of Ukraine and the Czech Republic signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of agriculture and food industry.

“This will facilitate the intensification of our cooperation in this sector, the alignment of Ukrainian legislation with EU standards and practices, and the strengthening of bilateral trade in agricultural products between our countries,” said Denys Shmyhal.
