During an official visit to Türkiye, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity, Oleksiy Chernyshov, and Abdullah Eren, President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), agreed to establish a joint working group. The group aims to foster sustainable cooperation and share best practices in engaging with diaspora communities.

The YTB, an agency with 15 years of experience, was established to support Turkish communities abroad. It currently implements a wide range of programmes, from cultural initiatives to educational opportunities and legal protection.

“Türkiye has unique expertise in supporting its citizens worldwide, and this experience can serve as a valuable guide for Ukraine in developing its own diaspora engagement policies,” remarked Oleksiy Chernyshov.

Among other topics, the parties discussed promoting intercultural dialogue and launching joint community initiatives between Ukrainian and Turkish communities.

Education was also a key focus.

“We are keen to expand access for Ukrainian students to higher education in Türkiye and to foster academic partnerships between universities in both countries,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
