Oleksiy Chernyshov meets with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew
During a working visit to Türkiye, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity, Oleksiy Chernyshov, met with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The meeting took place at Saint George’s Cathedral, the official residence of the Ecumenical Patriarch and the spiritual centre of the Orthodox world.
Oleksiy Chernyshov expressed heartfelt gratitude to His All-Holiness for his support of the Ukrainian people and his daily prayers for peace in Ukraine.
The parties discussed fostering mutual understanding and respect among all religious communities in Ukraine.
“We are a united people, defending not only our territories but also our values: freedom, dignity, and the right to be ourselves. Today, we must do everything possible to address the challenges facing the church in Ukraine, while promoting interfaith peace and unity,” stated Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister.
In turn, the Ecumenical Patriarchate reaffirmed its deep support for Ukraine and expressed hopes that the spirit of dialogue and mutual understanding would grow stronger at the heart of Ukrainian Orthodoxy.
