The document was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal and Minister of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania Lukas Savickas during the visit of the Lithuanian delegation to Kyiv.

The energy partnership between the two countries will focus on:
▪️ restoration of energy infrastructure;
▪️ decentralised generation and development of energy storage systems;
▪️ gas infrastructure and diversification of supplies;
▪️ regulation and integration into European energy markets;
▪️ jointly strengthening the protection of energy infrastructure.

To further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, a Joint Coordination Group for the Implementation of the Lithuania-Ukraine Energy Partnership has been established.

The heads of the relevant ministries of the two countries, together with representatives of Ukraine’s and Lithuania’s largest energy companies, also discussed the implementation of joint business projects.

“Lithuanian companies are ready to participate in energy recovery projects, including within the framework of the Energy Community. We need to strengthen cooperation with Lithuanian manufacturers, engineering companies and technology providers,” Denys Shmyhal said.

An important area of bilateral cooperation is gas security and the integration of energy markets.

“We will expand supply routes, explore opportunities to use the Klaipėda liquefied natural gas terminal and regional gas infrastructure, and facilitate the use of Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities by European partners. We will deepen cooperation in all these areas,” the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy emphasised.

Denys Shmyhal thanked the partners for their support to Ukraine’s energy sector, including humanitarian equipment assistance totalling more than 6,317 tonnes, as well as their contribution of EUR 5.7 million to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.

He also separately emphasised that Ukraine highly appreciates the equipment provided by Vilnius CHP-3 and expressed hope for the expedited procedures for transferring equipment from Kaunas CHP to meet the needs of Kryvyi Rih. The Head of the Ministry of Energy stressed that this equipment is critically important for strengthening the region’s energy resilience as part of preparations for the autumn-winter period.
