Since the beginning of the year, governmental and non-governmental operators have surveyed more than 200,000 hectares of agricultural land identified for priority demining. This was reported by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, citing data from regional military administrations.

“There are 200,000 hectares of agricultural land surveyed since the beginning of the year. This is a significant result and a significant pace of work. It is especially important that more than 120,000 hectares of surveyed and demined land are already being used by agricultural producers. Returning agricultural land to economic use and restoring economic life in the liberated territories is the main goal of the plan for priority demining of agricultural land, which we are working to achieve,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Last week alone, deminers surveyed about 4,500 hectares of agricultural land. Of these, more than 3,700 hectares in Kherson region, more than 430 hectares in Mykolaiv region, and more than 280 hectares in Kharkiv region.

As a reminder, the Action Plan for demining (humanitarian demining) of agricultural land is designed for four years and provides for the recovery of more than 470,000 hectares of the most valuable agricultural land. The implementation of the Action Plan for demining (humanitarian demining) of agricultural land is coordinated by the Interagency Working Group on Humanitarian Demining chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The Ministry of Economy is also working on the development of the National Mine Action Strategy. The working group that prepares draft regulations in the field of mine action and develops the main provisions of the Strategy was established by an order of the Ministry of Economy on 16 August 2023.
