Water supply to Mykolaiv pipeline begins for technical filling of the system

Water has begun to be supplied to the main pipeline that will serve Mykolaiv, starting the technical filling of the system. This is one of the final stages of construction, preceding commissioning works and the restoration of water supply to the city.

The project is being implemented by the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development in coordination with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development.

The main pipeline spans over 130 km of new infrastructure. To ensure stable operation, water is being introduced gradually. Every valve and connection is tested in real time, with the entire system under constant monitoring for pressure and equipment performance.

“The main construction phase of the Mykolaiv pipeline has been completed. We have begun filling the system with water, one of the most critical stages. In August, after completing the filling and final testing, water supply will be restored for over half a million Mykolaiv residents – for the first time since 2022,” said Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development.

As of now:

• Over 134 km of pipes have been installed – 98% of the total length;
• Pumping stations are more than 80% complete;
• System flushing has been carried out, and installation of core equipment is finished;
• Overall construction readiness of the project is at 85%.

Construction of the pipeline began in January 2025. The project cost has been reduced by over UAH 2.5 billion, with the savings redirected to other water supply projects in the Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Poltava regions.
