January 30, Kyiv, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Zagorodnyuk held the meeting with the Head of the National Security Bureau of the Republic of Poland, Pawel Soloch.
The parties discussed the overall security situation in the region, as well as the common challenges and threats which are faced by countries. Andriy Zagorodnyuk noted that cooperation in security and defense sphere between the defense agencies of Ukraine and Poland is strategically important.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine paid special attention to the Azov and Black Sea region, emphasizing the ongoing militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by Russian Federation.
A separate topic for discussion was the issue of the joint Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian military unit “LITPOLUKRBRIG”. The need for additional consultation at the level of the defense agencies on the issue raised was emphasized.
During the meeting, the parties stressed the need to strengthen existing and launch new areas of defense cooperation, as well as to continue joint projects, in particular in the area of counteraction to hybrid threats.
The Head of the Polish National Security Bureau, Pawel Soloch assured the Ukrainian side of the unconditional support of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in the reforms sphere and the continuation of the practice of friendly, mutually beneficial relations.
As part of the visit, members of the Polish delegation also visited the Memorial Hall in the territory of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and laid flowers at the Memory Stela, honoring fallen Ukrainian Heroes.
