In January-February, people should receive the same reduced cost of utility payments as in December. Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk said this during a conference call with heads of Regional State Administrations. The PM called on local authorities to more actively use the tools provided by the Government to reduce utility bills for heating and hot water.
"In December, people received bills reduced by 30%. However, the heating season is still underway. Therefore, in January and February the local authorities still have to make efforts to decrease heating payments for Ukrainians," Oleksiy Honcharuk said.
The PM added that the Government had provided all the necessary mechanisms for this.
"At present, the gas price is objectively lower compared with the same period last year, which is the result of transparent market pricing. I thank the local authorities in such regions where the tariffs were recalculated. 143 enterprises in 21 regions, including in Kyiv have applied the government recalculation mechanism. I call on those local authorities, who have not done recalculations yet, to actively participate in the process," the Head of Government emphasized.
Oleksiy Honcharuk commissioned the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development to provide local experts with methodological support, to monitor the situation and to provide solutions to problematic issues if they arise.
It should be noted that it became possible to recalculate heating prices due to the Government's decision No. 1082 of December 24, 2019. The said decision was approved following a commission by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which stipulates for providing an instrument to local authorities to reduce utility bills for heating and hot water by 30%.
