
Office of air emissions control to be created in Kryvyi Rih
Office of air emissions control designed to control the level of air pollution and emissions will be established in Kryvyi Rih.
In order to ensure maximum efficiency, the Office, which will function directly in Kryvyi Rih in the city where this issue is the most pressing one, and will be established as the part of the State Environmental Inspectorate
"The establishment of this Office is only the first step towards an environmental control reform. The Office's experts will coordinate inspections of the largest air polluting enterprises," said Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.
It should be noted that in 2018 Ukraine ranked 109th among 180 countries in the world upon indications of environmental protection in terms of impact on public health and protection of ecosystems, and according to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation in 2016, air pollution in Ukraine led to over 58,000 deaths (about 10% of all deaths per year).
