Within the framework of the programs of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Great Construction and Healthy Ukraine, one regional children's and one adult hospital are being reconstructed and modernized in each region. At a weekly conference call with the participation of heads of regional state administrations, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko set a task to complete the preparation of the design specification and start tender procedures for the development of construction documentation during two weeks. Construction activities will begin in 2022 and will be completed during 2022-2023.

"Starting next year, the total reconstruction and modernization of regional hospitals in each regional center will trigger. During 2022-2023, each region will receive one modern adult and children's hospital. Now it is necessary to submit the terms of reference for the specific needs of each region," Kyrylo Tymoshenko said.

The participants stressed at the meeting that each region should be able to provide high-quality tertiary care to citizens.

"The objective of our Ministry in the framework of the Great Construction is the launch of hospitals in a new European format. We want a complete rethinking of the concept of the hospital so that it is equally comfortable for both the patient and the doctor. We strive to provide access to quality and safe medical services. Along with the construction of hospitals, the latest technologies in the field of healthcare must be introduced. The Ministry of Health is changing the approach to equipping hospitals and updating equipment in accordance with European standards," commented Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.

A total of 48 health facilities will be either renovated or built.
