Ukrainian Unity Hub to open in Czech Republic: joint declaration signed between governments
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov signed a Joint Declaration with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic Vít Rakušan on the establishment of the Unity Hub of Ukraine in the Czech Republic.
The signing took place with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala.
“I wish to commend the efforts of government officials regarding the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic. Preparations are underway to open a Ukrainian hub in Prague – a centre for our national life in the Czech Republic and for strengthening ties between Ukraine and the Czech Republic. I am grateful to the Government and the entire Czech Republic for their heartfelt support for Ukraine and respect for our people. Thank you, Czech Republic!” emphasised Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As of early May this year, approximately 390,000 Ukrainians with temporary protection status reside in the Czech Republic, with a total of around 600,000 Ukrainian citizens living in the country. This makes the Ukrainian community the largest in terms of population.
“The Unity Hub will serve as a place of connection and engagement with Ukraine. Ukrainians will be able to access essential services, including advice on economic opportunities, job searches, and programmes for children and young people,” stated Oleksiy Chernyshov.
As a reminder, joint declarations on the establishment of Ukrainian Unity Hubs have already been signed with Spain, Germany and France.
