For the first time in Ukraine in 2021, there should be monitored the accessibility of a number of buildings and premises. In particular, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, CASPs, airports, railway and bus stations, etc. will be inspected. This was announced by Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development Natalia Kozlovska.
"The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, together with public organizations, have determined the types of facilities to be monitored and assessed in terms of degree of accessibility in 2021. The Ministry has already sent a letter to the regional state administrations and Kyiv City State Administration. Regions should conduct a proper inspection of buildings and premises in accordance with the procedures established by the Procedure for monitoring and assessing the degree of accessibility of facilities of the physical environment and services for low mobility groups and provide information to the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development by October 31. Based on the results of these inspections, the Ministry will shape a barrier-free rating of regional and Kyiv and Sevastopol city state administrations," Natalia Kozlovska said.
Therefore, in all regions it is planned to monitor and assess the availability of the following facilities:
It should be noted that accessibility monitoring is the responsibility of regional bodies for urban planning and architecture, local bodies for urban planning and architecture, as well as owners, tenants or other managers of buildings and premises.
Representatives of public associations of persons with disabilities may be involved in the assessment of the degree of accessibility of physical facilities and services for low mobility groups.
As was reported earlier the Minister Oleksii Chernyshov announced that in Ukraine annual monitoring of barrier-free facilities and premises was introduced.
