During IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings, Deputy Minister of Finance Olga Zykova participated in the Atlantic Council discussion panel “Reimagining digital development for post-war reconstruction”, which focused on Ukraine's key recovery needs and the role of digital development in post-war reconstruction.
"For the third year in a row, Ukraine has been demonstrating remarkable resilience in extremely difficult conditions, including through the digitalization of public services, the need for which is only growing. In the midst of a full-scale war, the Diia platform has created a number of digital services that have become a lifeline for Ukrainians abroad and IDPs, as well as SMEs. The platform contains a powerful database of online consultations to help businesses, including those seeking financial support," the Deputy Minister of Finance said.
In almost three years, more than 500,000 Ukrainians have registered as individual entrepreneurs through Diia. And since the beginning of russian full-scale invasion, more than 4 million war bonds worth about USD 100 million have been purchased through Diia.
In total, estimated potential economic effect of the introduction of digital services in Diia is about USD 840 mln per year. And given the transparency and accountability of the services, the potential anti-corruption effect is more than USD 130 million.
Olga Zykova noted that the development and reform of the digital sphere in Ukraine is taking place in close cooperation with the EU, on the path to European integration. Moreover, given Ukraine's achievements in this area, negotiations with the EU on the Digitalization and Media section may be among the first to start practical work.
