Abnormally hot weather in Ukraine, electricity consumption is growing; four rounds of hourly power outages are applied throughout the day
The situation in the energy sector remains difficult. There is a significant shortage of generating capacity in the system due to massive hostile attacks since spring this year, and shelling of substations and transmission lines continues. Ukraine is also experiencing an abnormal heat wave. All of this makes the situation even more difficult.
Over the past 24 hours, Ukraine has been receiving additional emergency assistance from Poland to partially cover the deficit. Emergency assistance has been provided today. Ukraine’s power system also received surplus power from the Polish power system.
Due to the failure of equipment at one of the power facilities, electricity supply is restricted today – 4 rounds are in place throughout the day.
Starting from 10:00, emergency blackouts will be introduced in Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions.
Information about changes in the schedules can be found on the official websites of the regional power distribution companies in your regions.
Power engineers are already working to restore the equipment and the situation is expected to be normalised by the end of the day.
CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, equipment at one of the power facilities was damaged as a result of hostile shelling. This resulted in a power cut to household consumers and an industrial enterprise. The consumers have been supplied with electricity.
Also in Dnipropetrovsk region, an overhead line was disconnected due to shelling, which led to a power outage at a substation, household consumers and local industry. An inspection of the substation revealed a broken wire. All consumers have been reconnected.
STATE OF THE GRID
In Odesa region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected due to a technological failure. The substation and the household consumers connected to it lost power. All consumers were supplied with power via a backup scheme.
In Lviv region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected for technological reasons. Several substations, household consumers, and local industry lost power. Everyone has been supplied with power.
POWER OUTAGES FOR CONSUMERS
Due to severe weather conditions, 48 settlements in Chernihiv, Zakarpattia and Zhytomyr regions lost power.
In total, 507 settlements remain without power due to hostilities and technical disruptions.
Power companies have supplied power to 31,149 consumers who were cut off as a result of hostilities.
SITUATION AT ZNPP
The water level in the cooling pond is 14.94 metres. This is enough to meet the plant’s needs.
IMPORT/EXPORT
For the current day, imports from Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary are forecasted in the total amount of 25,849 MWh and a maximum capacity of 1,403 MW. No exports are carried out or planned.
