Situation in energy system as of 12 July

Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 12 July 2024 10:27

POWER GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

Due to massive russian shelling, there is a capacity shortage in the power system. Yesterday, to partially cover it, Ukraine additionally attracted emergency assistance from the Polish power system.

As of today, the hourly outage schedules are planned to be in effect from 0:00 to 24:00. If the situation changes, the information will be updated.

Due to the heat wave in Ukraine, electricity consumption may increase, in particular due to the active use of air conditioners. We urge everyone to consume electricity sparingly. This enables power engineers to keep the power system more stable.

No power cuts will be imposed on critical infrastructure companies and companies that import more than 80% of their electricity in accordance with a government decree.

The main reason for the electricity restrictions is the enemy’s attacks on the energy infrastructure and the negative consequences of these attacks.

CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING

In Chernihiv region, a rocket attack caused a simultaneous power outage in 10 settlements of 1,821 consumers.

In the central region, a high-voltage overhead line was shut down during an air raid.

EMERGENCIES

In Rivne region, a 58-year-old equipment repairman was electrocuted when approaching electrical equipment to a dangerous distance during repair work. The employee suffered burns to his right hand and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

In Kharkiv region, a repair team of a regional power company came under enemy fire. Fortunately, no people or equipment were injured.

STATE OF THE GRID

An overhead line was disconnected in Odesa region. The substation and the household consumers connected to it lost power. All consumers have been reconnected.

POWER OUTAGES FOR CONSUMERS

As of this morning, 479 settlements are without power due to hostilities and technical failures. As a result of bad weather, 6 settlements in Ivano-Frankivsk region were cut off from power. Power engineers have supplied power to 11,417 consumers who were cut off as a result of hostilities.
