Restrictions on power supply to consumers in place; in Donetsk region, shelling caused mining equipment to stop working, leaving more than 160 workers trapped underground
POWER GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION
Yesterday, the needs of consumers were covered by domestic generation, commercial imports and emergency assistance from the power systems of Romania, Slovakia and Poland.
During the daytime, Ukraine provided emergency assistance to Poland, receiving surplus electricity from the country’s power system.
Poltava and Sumy regions also experienced emergency blackouts.
From 0:00 to 7:00, and from 19:00 to 24:00, restrictions were imposed on industrial and household consumers in all regions. Today, in the morning and afternoon, at Ukraine’s request, emergency electricity will be supplied from Romania, Slovakia and Poland, and restrictions will also be imposed on consumers.
The reason for the restrictions is significant damage to the energy infrastructure following massive russian attacks. Restoration works are ongoing.
CONSEQUENCES OF THE SHELLING
Damage to one of the mines in Donetsk region resulted in a shutdown of ventilation equipment. 137 workers were brought to the surface. Later, as a result of the shelling, ventilation equipment stopped at another part of the mine. 26 employees were notified of the emergency and remained in the mine until the end of their shift to ensure the facility’s operation.
STATE OF THE GRID
In Sumy region, a cable at a substation was damaged due to falling building debris during the restoration work after the russian attacks. As a result, the substation’s equipment and the household consumers connected to it lost power. All consumers have been supplied with electricity.
In Kharkiv region, a regional power company’s overhead line was disconnected, cutting power to a high-voltage substation, the company’s substations, and the household consumers connected to them. All consumers were reconnected.
SITUATION AT ZNPP
The water level in the cooling pond is 15.30 metres. This is sufficient to meet the plant’s needs.
IMPORT/EXPORT
For the current day, electricity imports are forecasted at about 14,000 MWh. No exports are planned.
