  • Situation in energy system on 23 July: enemy attacks power facility in the north; restrictions on consumers in place throughout the day
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 23 July 2024 10:54

    POWER GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

The situation in the energy sector remains difficult. There is a significant shortage of generating capacity in the system due to massive enemy attacks since spring this year, and shelling continues, especially in the frontline and border areas. Substations and power transmission lines are often targeted.

As of today, the hourly outage schedules are planned to be in effect from 0:00 to 24:00. For information about changes in the schedules, please visit the official websites of regional power distribution companies in your region.

There will be no outages for critical infrastructure companies and companies that import more than 80% of electricity for their needs in accordance with the government decree.

The main reason for the electricity supply restrictions is the enemy’s attacks on the energy infrastructure and the negative consequences of these attacks. 9 GW of generating capacity has been lost.

    CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING

A UAV attack on a power facility in Sumy region resulted in a blackout of several substations and consumers in Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Consumers were partially supplied with power via a backup scheme.

In Chernihiv region, the shelling of an overhead line caused simultaneous power outages in 6 settlements.

In Donetsk region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected due to hostilities, which led to a blackout at a substation and the household consumers connected to it. The consumers have been reconnected.

    STATE OF THE GRID

In Odesa region, equipment at a high-voltage substation was shut down due to a technological malfunction. As a result, several substations and the household and industrial consumers connected to them lost power. All of them have been supplied with power.

    POWER OUTAGES FOR CONSUMERS

Due to severe weather conditions, 14 settlements in Chernihiv and Sumy regions lost power supply.

Power engineers supplied power to 14,077 consumers who were cut off as a result of hostilities.

In total, 507 settlements remain without power due to hostilities and technical disruptions.

    SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond is 14.86 metres. This is enough to meet the plant’s needs.

    IMPORT/EXPORT

During the day, it is planned to import electricity from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary with a maximum capacity of 1,251 MW.

No exports are planned and are not expected.
