Situation in energy system on 23 February
Power generation and consumption
Yesterday afternoon, a surplus of electricity was recorded in the power system of Ukraine due to excessive electricity generation by solar power plants. At the request of NPC Ukrenergo, the surplus was transferred to Poland. The total amount of electricity transmitted was 1,440 MWh (from 11:00 to 16:00).
Domestic power generation is sufficient to meet the needs of consumers, and commercial imports and exports of electricity are also planned.
A unit and a block of a thermal power plant are undergoing maintenance, and one unit of a thermal power plant has been put back into operation after a short-term repair. There are 11 units of TPP generating facilities in reserve, which will be used if necessary.
The situation is under control. The system is balanced. No outage schedules are applied.
Consequences of shelling
As a result of hostilities, a 330 kV high-voltage line in Zaporizhzhia region was de-energised, and restoration works will be carried out subject to safety conditions.
Repairs are underway on a 330 kV line supplying Zaporizhzhia NPP. ZNPP remains powered by a single line.
State of the grid
Due to technical reasons, equipment at a 330 kV substation of NPC Ukrenergo was out of service in Mykolaiv region. All consumers have now been reconnected.
Situation at ZNPP
The water level in the cooling pond has slightly decreased to 15.58 metres. This is sufficient to meet the needs of the plant.
Import/export
For the current day, electricity imports are forecasted at 1,018 MWh. Exports to Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Moldova and Hungary are also planned – up to 2,793 MWh.
