Stepan Kubiv inked declaration on EU strategy for Carpathian region development

Today, September 5, First Vice Prime Minister /Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv signed the Declaration of Intent on the establishment of a new macro-regional strategy of the European Union for the development of the Carpathian region of Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.

"This strategy means that Europe is becoming stronger when its regions are strong. These are new opportunities for competitiveness, financial instruments, regional programs for the priority developments of countries and infrastructure, environmental, tourism research, innovation and investment projects", Stepan Kubiv commented.

Thus, due to the introduction of decentralization processes in Ukraine the territorial communities  have received sufficient financial tools for co-financing the implementation of cross-border projects.

"Today we are writing a new page in history of the Carpathian region. But we have a lot of joint work ahead , because  according to this document, in the future we have to create more opportunities for the development of our countries and to  ensure a high standard of living ", the Vice Prime Minister underscored.

Stepan Kubiv stressed that the macro-regional strategy  envisages compliance with the priority directions of cooperation in accordance with the Framework Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians. Such a combination should ensure the development of cooperation between the countries of the Carpathian region.
