The Government pays special attention to the fair transformation of coal regions. The Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal issued this statement during a working trip to Volyn region on October 29.

"In Ukraine, a program of fair transformation of coal regions has been launched and is gaining momentum. It is not a question of closing mines, but of a fair transformation, which will take place on a step-by-step basis, with the corresponding social and investment reorientation of the coal regions, "the Head of Government said.

Denys Shmyhal underlined that Ukraine is currently developing approaches to fair transformation based on the experience of other countries that have already successfully completed this path.

"People who work in coal mines need to understand where they will work, how the social sphere will develop in cities where coal  mines are now city-forming enterprises. All these issues are currently part of the project of fair transformation, "Denys Shmyhal underscored.
