Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, who had arrived in Kyiv on an official visit on 25 January, addressed countering hybrid threats from russia, developing economic partnership and European integration.
Denys Shmyhal noted that Ukraine and Moldova remain important partners who continue to develop cooperation in various fields.
"Our Governments have an understanding of a common threat - russia. The kremlin has always used its energy resources as a weapon against other States. Ukraine stands ready to assist Moldova in resolving the energy crisis and has already submitted its proposals," the Prime Minister stressed.
The Head of Government underlined that Ukraine was interested in further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. He added that trade turnover between the two countries had grown by 12% in 2024.
The parties also focused on the improvement of logistics and communication between Ukraine, and Moldova, and the European Union.
European integration was an important topic of the meeting. Denys Shmyhal and Maia Sandu discussed work in this area.
"Mutual support and assistance, establishment of a stable dialogue, exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as close day-to-day cooperation of our teams will contribute to the further progress of our countries on the path to full EU membership," Denys Shmyhal said and thanked Moldova for its continued support of Ukraine in countering russia's military aggression and providing assistance to Ukrainian citizens.
