Sergii Koretskyi addresses Verkhovna Rada: Government has a clear plan to overcome current challenges

Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi addressed the Verkhovna Rada, briefing MPs on the findings of the rapid audit, particularly its financial review, and on the priorities of the new Government.

According to the Prime Minister, the audit revealed exceptionally difficult challenges. At the same time, the Government has a clear understanding of the current problems and future risks, as well as a plan to address them.

“This will require the combined efforts of every branch of government and intensive, coordinated work,” Sergii Koretskyi emphasised.

The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine could lose access to a significant share of the USD 29.5 billion expected from international partners unless Parliament and the Government work together effectively.

Securing this funding will require:

• the adoption of 44 Government decisions and 26 bills already submitted to the Verkhovna Rada;
• the submission of a further 17 bills as soon as possible.

“The Government will ensure that all 44 decisions are adopted by 1 November. I ask MPs, regardless of their political affiliations, to adopt all the necessary legislation as well,” Sergii Koretskyi said.

The Prime Minister also reported a USD 27 billion shortfall in the Defence Forces budget.

According to him, the shortfall reflects the rising cost of the war, the need for technological solutions, additional funding for air defence and financial support for Ukrainian service members.

“Negotiations are underway with international partners at every level to secure emergency funding for these needs,” the Prime Minister said.

He emphasised that coordinated joint efforts to resolve these problems would enable Ukraine to make up for lost ground and meet new challenges.

Sergii Koretskyi thanked the President, Parliament, his Government colleagues and all state authorities for their daily efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience.
