As part of efforts to streamline the civil service and make it more efficient, more than 4,000 vacant positions in central executive bodies are to be cut in the first phase. Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi announced.

"The most important thing is that we are conducting a functional review of the civil service. We will check what functions the bodies have and whether they match the realities and priorities of the state, and only then determine the structure and final headcount," emphasized the Head of Government.

The number of deputy ministers will be tied to the volume of tasks and reduced by about 20%, while the number of deputy heads of other central executive bodies will be cut by almost 18%.

A separate area is improving the training system, which should be tied to the tasks of a specific position. Outreach and internships will be launched for young people. There is also a separate program for veterans.

The Council on Public Administration, with the participation of government officials, members of parliament and experts, has already resumed its work. A detailed plan was presented at its meeting, and those responsible for each area were identified.

"The goal of all these changes is a professional civil service capable of carrying out its tasks quickly and effectively," Sergii Koretskyi stressed.
