Sergii Koretskyi: Ukraine and Moldova deepen security cooperation and align their paths to EU membership
Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi met with Prime Minister of Moldova Vasile Tofan in Kyiv today.
"Ukraine and Moldova are heading to the EU together. Ukraine's accession matters for Moldova's security, just as Moldova's matters for ours. Synchronised integration makes both strategic and economic sense," the Head of Government said. "We are reinforcing stability in the region: we signed an Agreement on Military-Technical Cooperation, which will bolster our joint efforts to counter Russian threats."
Sergii Koretskyi thanked Moldova for the discounted rail freight rates agreed in response to Russian terror in the Black Sea.
"We are ready to extend joint border control to two more crossing points with Moldova, and will sign an agreement on this shortly," the Prime Minister of Ukraine said. "We value our energy partnership, including the arrangements for gas transit via the Trans-Balkan Corridor. Moldovan companies are already using Ukrainian gas storage facilities."
During the meeting, the sides agreed to relaunch the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Odesa Triangle format, which brings together Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania.
"We plan to hold the first Triangle meeting at prime ministerial level," Sergii Koretskyi said. "Thank you to Mr Tofan and the Moldovan Government for the steadfast support of Ukraine."
