Sergii Koretskyi had phone conversation with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen

Ukraine now looks forward to the opening of all remaining negotiating clusters on its path to EU accession without delay. Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi discussed this issue with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during their first phone call.

The Prime Minister assured the Ukrainian Government will continue implementing the necessary reforms and fulfilling all commitments under the European integration process.

“We count on the European Union's continued unity in support of Ukraine and on further progress in the accession negotiations,” noted Sergii Koretskyi.

The parties discussed preparations for the next heating season, including additional financing to secure the necessary gas reserves and restore energy infrastructure that russia continues to deliberately target.

“The European Union remains Ukraine's largest financial partner. Ukraine has already received EUR 8.1 billion under the Ukraine Support Loan. We count on the timely disbursement of further macro-financial assistance and Ukraine Facility tranches this year, which are critical to maintaining our country's financial stability,” stressed the Head of Government.

The parties also paid particular attention to increasing sanctions pressure on russia and strengthening Ukraine's air defense.

“Ukraine urgently needs additional interceptors capable of destroying Russian ballistic missiles. I asked the European Commission to help accelerate their delivery in order to better protect the lives of our people. We agreed on the need to deepen cooperation within the joint anti-ballistic missile defense initiative,” emphasized Segii Koretskyi.

The Prime Minister thanked President von der Leyen for her steadfast support of Ukraine and accentuated the importance of implementation of all reached agreements.
