Ukraine and France discussed the implementation of joint projects for the restoration and modernization of medical infrastructure
Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko held a meeting with Muriel Lacoue-Labarthe, Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for Ukraine's Relief and Reconstruction.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine – Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine for European Integration Maryna Slobodnichenko, as well as representatives of the Expertise France team in Ukraine and the Embassy of France in Ukraine.
The Minister of Health of Ukraine thanked the French Republic for its consistent support of the Ukrainian healthcare system, which includes the supply of modern medical equipment, international medical partnerships and human capital development, restoration of medical infrastructure, and support for Ukrainian medical institutions under conditions of full-scale war.
The meeting was dedicated to discussing the implementation of seven projects financed by the French Civil Fund with a total amount exceeding EUR 51 million. The parties noted the successful implementation of several initiatives, including equipping Ukrainian hospitals with resuscitation, rehabilitation, and ultrasound equipment, and deploying telemedicine complexes. Construction of modern rehabilitation centers in Vinnytsia and Ladyzhyn is also underway.
Special attention was paid to preparations for the second round of the French Civil Fund, which continues the Ukrainian-French partnership to support critical infrastructure and priority sectors of the Ukrainian economy. Within the new grant package, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine identified priority areas such as the development of rehabilitation and prosthetic-orthopedic care, strengthening the capacity of healthcare institutions, and professional training of medical workers, particularly in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of oncological diseases.
The parties also discussed further development of the military medical center at the Lviv Medical University, including expanding prosthetics opportunities for servicemen, as well as establishing a rehabilitation center in Odesa. It should be noted that with the support of Expertise France, the third Superhumans network center in Ukraine has already started operating in Odesa.
The French side confirmed its readiness to support the preparation and implementation of priority projects, in particular by facilitating their financing and involving French experts and companies in the restoration of Ukraine’s medical infrastructure. Cooperation in this area continues.
