Sergii Koretskyi holds meeting with Ministry of Defense on closing additional USD 27 billion defense funding request for this year

Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi held a meeting with the Ministry of Defense to address closure of the additional USD 27 billion defense funding request for this year.

"Some of these funds are needed right now to prepay deliveries expected in Q1 2027.
Part of the sum shall be covered from domestic sources — reallocating funds within existing programs. That's a task for the Ministry of Finance," the Prime Minister said.

According to him, Ukraine is also counting on support from the EU.

"There are direct talks at the defense-agency level with NATO countries and other partners to help close this gap," Sergii Koretskyi noted.

The Prime Minister added that, in parallel, it is necessary to unblock external financing tied to fulfilling agreements with international partners: "This requires passing specific legislation and decisions under the Government's plan. We're working closely with Parliament on this every day. Step by step."
